Session Goals
The goal of this session is to critically examine how our behaviors and practices in our research can have long-lasting impacts on the communities we work in or with. Now having learned how the geosciences have a legacy of colonialism in their research, it's important we understand that, moving forward, we must acknowledge the people and lands we work with; we include their knowledge in our research; and communicate with them appropriately and timely. We will also explore environmental racism more broadly in how it disproportionately impacts communities of color within the United States and abroad.
